You will be notified that you need to install the updated drivers. Click YES to the prompt. b) DrugPak will close and the latest Workstation Setup program will run. Follow the on-screen prompts to complete the install. c) You may need to reboot your computer when this process is complete. ***DrugPak Client/Server Users*** Before installing DrugPak 5.2, you must update your Advantage Database Server to the latest version (6.2). Your DrugPak CD has come with an additional paper with more details. -------------------------------------------------------- 5. Enhancements -------------------------------------------------------- DrugPak v.5.2 has many performance-enhancements over version 5.0. Some enhancements are purely speed-oriented; some enhancements offer procedures. This version offers several new data-mining tools as well. STARTUP The login screen will appear much faster. Previously the Status window would iterate through the entire list of database tables before the login screen appeared. This step has been removed. PERFORMANCE ON THE MAIN SCREEN HAS BEEN IMPROVED. The new drop-down lists were not optimized to use indexes. We have customized this component to react much faster! Performance has been improved when starting up. This was accomplished by defaulting the sort order for Tests, Participants, and Companies to "Natural Order." Previously, the default index was "SERIALALL" (Company, Batch, Participant, Substance Type). CHANGING COMPANIES See "Preferences | Workstation Preferences | Advanced Options" for these performance-enhancing features: NEW CHECKBOX: Reset *Participant* sort order to "Natural Order" when changing companies. Mark this checkbox ON to speed up the "change current company" process. It removes the current index from the *Participants* table before changing companies, to speed things up. NEW CHECKBOX: Reset *Result* sort order to "Natural Order" when changing companies. Mark this checkbox ON to speed up the change companies process. It removes the current index from the *Results* table before changing companies, to speed things up. PACKING AND REINDEXING This process (by its very nature) can be very time consuming. In the vast majority of cases, packing is an unnecessary step and greatly increases the required time. Now a "Reindex only" checkbox is available on the pack dialog. This is checked ON by default. SELECT AN ALTERNATE The speed of this process has been greatly improved by adding a new index to the Random Pool history table, as well as by allowing you to pick the desired random before the list of alternates is displayed. IMPORT PARTICIPANTS The speed of this process has been greatly improved by adding a new index to the Participants database. RESULT LETTER STREAMLINING Marking Letters printed successfully. This process no longer uses the status window to ask the user if the records have been printed successfully. A typical "Confirmation" dialog will have the user click YES or NO after printing the report. This confirmation dialog will appear immediately if the user is printing directly to the printer. If previewing in a window, then the confirmation dialog will appear after the report window is closed. This prompt is now optional. Simply check ON the "Do not show this message again" checkbox when responding to the prompt. To force the system to begin prompting this message again, see "Preferences | Workstation Preferences | Optional Prompts". When printing Result Letters via the "Envelope" button on the main screen, you will now be asked if you want to send the letter directly to the printer. Click YES to send the report to the printer. Click NO to preview the report in a window. This prompt is optional. Simply check ON the "Do not show this message again" checkbox when responding to the prompt. The system will remember whether you click YES or NO, and will not ask you again. To force the system to begin prompting this message again, see "Preferences | Workstation Preferences | Optional Prompts". TOOLS It is now possible to pack one or more data files without having to pack all data files. See Tools | Advanced | Pack and Index Specific Files. SQL QUERY TOOL See Tools | Advanced | Execute Query, for a new SQL tool. Use this tool to make large-scale data modification, or to lookup up records. Only the MASTER user may make data modifications. You can also export your queries to HTML format, for ad-hoc reporting! This feature will be unavailable if the user does not have access to Results. DATA BROWSER It is now possible to open any DrugPak database file in a browsing grid (some system tables are not available for browsing). The MASTER user has the ability to edit data directly in the grid. This feature is not available for users who do not have access to tests results. MISCELLANEOUS REPORT MARGINS Improved the Report Margins interface. Previously it was very difficult to enter a value directly into the boxes. INCOMPLETE TESTS REPORT Incomplete Test Results report now includes participant name and SSN. CONSORTIUM WINDOW The Consortium window now lists how many companies are included in the consortium, and excluded from the consortium. The Consortium Report now will indicate how many companies are included in the consortium (when printing company subtotals). RESULT DATA ENTRY: COC RECEIVED DATE A new Workstation Preference has been added on the "Result Options" page: "COC checkbox uses today's date". When this checkbox is marked on, then clicking the COC checkbox on the results page causes the system date to be automatically entered into the COC_DATE field. If this checkbox is marked OFF, then clicking the COC checkbox on the results page causes a calendar component to appear. SECURITY It is no longer possible for "normal" users to change their own "Full-name" in the Users file. Only the MASTER user may change a user's Full Name. Regular users now only have permission to change their password. -------------------------------------------------------- 6. Fixes in the CD-Release -------------------------------------------------------- The v 5.2 CD fixes all known issues introduced in version 5.0. Thank you for your patience. For a complete list of bug fixes, visit http://drugpak.3utilities.com:8080/dp50/50fixes.txt Scanlon Associates will be initiating a new method of releasing updates, keeping maintenance releases separate from "beta" enhancement updates. -------------------------------------------------------- 7. Known Issues -------------------------------------------------------- You can keep up-to-date with the latest version of DrugPak by visiting our Update page on the web: http://drugpak.com/dp52 HELP FILES The Help Files have not yet been updated to cover the new features in DP52. See the "Enhancements" section, above for an overview of what is different in the new software. Call for support if you can't find what you are looking for. DATE FIELDS The new calendar component has not been integrated into all possible locations. These components will gradually appear in more locations. Meanwhile, you can still right-click or press F2 on all date-input fields to display a pop-up calendar. DROP-DOWN LISTS The new drop-down selection lists have not been integrated into all possible locations. When a lookup list is not available, you can still right-click or press F2 in the input box to display a lookup window. -------------------------------------------------------- 8. Post-CD Fixes -------------------------------------------------------- 2/24/2003 The initial distribution of ALS 6.2 was limited to 5 concurrent connections. Now DrugPak will automatically configure ADSLOCAL.CFG to permit unlimited connections via the local database engine. 2/24/2003 Resolved false message stating that the database drivers had not been installed. 2/25/2003 Letter to Prospective Employer was printing a blank sheet of paper if the participant had no results. This has been fixed with an updated PROSPEMP.RPT. DrugPak was updated to use a refined selection formula, because the participant name was also being suppressed if there were no tests for that participant. 3/4/2003 Fixed a bug in the Random Selection routine related to FRA employees. RND tests were not being marked as FRA when the participant was FRA; FTA results were being marked both FTA and FRA. If you believe you have been affected by this bug, please contact technical support for a retroactive fix. 6/14/2003 The following reports have been updated: RNDPARM0.RPT - Random Selection Profile Proof List SELECT.RPT - Random Selection Selection List vOUCHER.RPT - Random Selection Certification Letters RNDSTAT0.RPT - Random Selection Program Statistics RNDLOC.RPT - Random Selection Location Statistics RESLTTR0.RPT - Result Letters FAA.RPT - FAA MIS Form FMSCA.RPT - FMCSA MIS FORM CONSORT1.RPT - Consortium List 7/14/2003 Sped up printing of Result Letters. The Result Letter has been redesigned to conserve vertical space (to help prevent the Letter from running over onto a second page when there are verbose result letter comments). - Home Base font size decreased for consistency - Sample Type and Specimen Collector font size decreased for consistency - Standard Non-/DOT comment moved up; just below the results box. - Modified the signature line.... The verification date now appears ABOVE the line. - If the signature line is shown, but the signature text is DIFFERENT from the MRO Name in the result record, then the signature date label will say "Date", and no date will be entered. Otherwise it will say "Verification Date," and the Verification Date value from the result record will be displayed. - Broke the upper part of the report into discrete sections, to allow for wrapping of long lines without overprinting the lines below.
